Hey all!

Here's another post on some of the foods I've been finding along my travels at random stops. I sortof forgot my camera in my car when I had a cheeseburger at this random diner/pub while in Buffalo. But As I was passing through Cleveland, I stopped off at an Asian Wok. There, I ordered some Curry Chicken and some Pot Stickers. Both very delicious. What I should have taken a photo of was the Pu Pu Platter that an older couple was eating when I first walked in. It had a huge firey thing in the centre with an assortment of appetizers all around for display.

Hey all!

As some of you know, I'm on a trip currently to San Francisco, California from Sudbury, Ontario for a new job that I will be starting once I get there. Along the way I am creating a video blog series on my YouTube Channel at .

Also, a friend gave me the idea to take photos of some of the various meals from dinner dives and other places along my travels. Here are the first two!

So earlier today I had batting practice with a few people from the softball team. As I took the bus down, I sortof miscalculated on when I would get there (holiday hours are a pain)and I arrived an hour earlier then I expected. So I wandered around the field and area trying to find any extra balls to hit since I didn't have any on hand. Enjoy!

So I was at Wonderland yesterday with some friends. And honestly it was my first time there. Now...picture this. I admit to having a fear of heights and have never ridden on a roller coaster till yesterday morning. My friends toss me on Topgun or Flight Deck or whatever it's called now. It was an "interesting" experience.

Though all in all I had a great time. Though I still have the fear of heights...for now. Got to try out ALOT of the rides there and it was a great day.

Daily Doodles?!

So as of this week I decided I will attempt (AND SUCCEED!) and creating a drawing a day. The drawing will be of anything that comes to mind, be it concept art for an upcoming project, something that just happened that day, or just something completely random and left field. I hope to post them on the day of their creation or the following day. It will all depend on when I have internet access after completing the daily doodle.

Why do this? For fun mostly. Also to get back to drawing alot more then what I'm currently doing. And to be fun, creative, and hopefully a bit entertaining.

First up is what I intended for the past Fan Art Friday project. It was open this past week so I chose my friend, Carsten Bradley. He has remained a great internet friend and inspiration for a long time now. The following is my rendition of his character Kurt from one of hist stories titled Shadowlands.

And for today, I have drawn a little something that happened to me this morning. I was waiting for the bus to head to work, and while waiting in one of the glass shelters, it happened to be pouring rain outside. As I stood in there, some old man walks over smoking a cigarette and sits down on the mini-bench and before he finishes his smoke, he lights up the next one. Now these booths are packed with "No Smoking" signs and here I am choking on the sheer amount of smoke coming out of this guy's mouth, so I stepped out to get away from his smoke at least, but get caught in the rain.

Looking for a voice!

Hey all! I've been working on some scripts for the Geekery series to animate a season of 3-5 minute shorts for online. I am in need of a voice for the following character:

Anyone interested in trying out for this spot, please let me know (email at canadianime@hotmail.com) and I will take in any auditions and provide one of the episode scripts for readings (if you would like). He is one of the 3 main characters for the series. Pettore is usually the lazy one of the trio and he mostly plays with miniatures more then other "geeky" activities. If you have any further questions or comments, I'm always open to critiques and valuable input (good or bad). Thanks and have a good one!

EDIT: This is an unpaid position unless I see it generating some funds. And in that case I would be more then happy to pay the voice talent for their gracious services. But only if it generates some funds to do so. I am not making money off of this, I'm just creating a story to put out into the world. Just wanted to clarify incase there were some misconceptions ;). Holiday Lane Character Designs!

So recently since I finished the little chicken short, I've been getting on the path of getting a bible package put together for Holiday Lane. As the co-creator is working on the script for a short pilot episode that will be animated, I'm getting some official design work done in preparation of the short, and also for the show bible as well. Here are some characters that I've worked on so far this week.

I won't be going into detail about the characters just yet...but here are the visuals.

Joe Smith

He moves his family to the city due to work and is instantly thrown at the wackiness of his neighbors.

Death
He represents the holiday of Halloween in this series.

Hey hey! How's it going? I really have to get a little more active on this blog-thing. Sorry for any of you that would like to see more and also more often, I'm bad at commitment stuff like this, my mind gets distracted too easily :P. Anyways, I'm working on a school portfolio (yes, I am planning on going back to learn some 3D stuff) and I have to do the usual animation portfolio of the hands, life drawing, your bedroom, etc.

I figured since I just finished one of the views of my bedroom that I would post it now. It's ALOT cleaner then what my bedroom really is, but I figured it shows enough detail to get the idea. My room sortof is inbetween the small hallway and the kitchen, so my roomate has to wander through my room just to get to the stove or fridge. Hence why it seems my dresser/mirror isn't sitting at a wall.
I did this all straight in photoshop and it probably took me alot longer to do then what it should have. That's probably cause I'm more of a character guy then a background guy so I don't draw many backgrounds/layouts and it usually doesn't interest me as much so I get bored fast drawing them. So in turn I can easily get distracted (Resident Evil 5 has been the recent one).

Well, I'll probably take a quick break from the layout drawing and work on the hand drawings next before tackling the opposite angle of my bedroom. Enjoy and I'll probably post more soon with what's going in that schol portfolio. Ciao for now!

Venture into the 3rd Dimension!

Wow...just wow. It has been a crazy long time since I have uploaded anything or posted.

Well...to kick off this stint of uploading/blogging, here are a few images. I have been slavin away at work on various projects and have been pushing to take some time aside to finally learn 3D and get some practice in. So here I have been working on something simple that doesn't really require rigging at all. I still have to find the time to texture it though.

This ship is the Exodus which I designed for this comic story called Novo Gaia which became a Chaos Jam (two artists taking turns drawing one page at a time) between Keith Jeter and myself.

My next 3D project is starting to model some backgrounds for an animated short I'm in the midst of working on. I'll post some tidbits as I get them done. But I'm currently swamped at work and still trying to find time to get the voice recording done. Two voice actors down, 3 to go!

Ouch....Sorry for the lack of posts people. I've been busy but still could have found time I guess. Well...at least I have alot to say in this post!

I'll open up with a design sketch in the works for Holiday Lane. Below is a lineup of the whole cast for Holiday Lane. From left to right, theres:
John Smith, Jane Smith, son (name pending, daughter (again with the pending name), Death, Mother Nature, Big Foot, EB (Easter Bunny), the Tooth Fairy, Kris Kringle, Mrs Claus, Bonhomme DeNeige, an elf, Patrick, Cupid and Jack Frost.

Craig and I have been working off and on in getting Holiday Lane ready. So far what's been written out for the pilot and the first episode script is pretty good. Just first drafts are done right now so alot more still to go. Keep checking here or at my main website of www.canadianime.com for more information on Holiday Lanes.

Last night I just finished this comic page for a contest Global Comic Jam was running. I wish I was able to find more time to do more work on it (hense the many photoshop filters if you've noticed :/ ) but you can't win them all. I'm pleased at least with how it turned out. It's getting the comic drawing rust off. Check out the forums at Global Comic Jam for more details on the contest or others that may be starting off really soon.

So that about covers it for now. I should have more up sometime in the near future. Expect alot more Holiday Lane and the occasional comic page!

I know it's been a while since I last posted. I've been busy with work. But! Here's a final design that I'm very happy about with the Easter Bunny for Holiday Lane. I didn't get into drawing his wife (the Tooth Fairy) yet cause it's more for him. The house you see in the bottom left belongs to Patrick the leprechaun. Let me know what you think and I'll be working on getting more of these designs worked on in the very near future.

Here's a picture for a friend's sister which is getting put in a Magazine apparently. My friend was the one that designed everything, I cleaned it all up and coloured the beast. 24 Hour Comic Jam and Runic Art!!

Hi all. I've been pretty busy running around Canada figuring out where to stay and work for a while. After my brief stay in Vancouver I went back to Calgary for a while and am now back in Toronto (well...Mississauga for now) and making my journey back to Sudbury for work.

I've also been keeping busy with animation tests and also getting ready for the 24 Hour Comic Jam for this year. My characters will be:

I'm still working on a story to get an idea on what to do...but it seems to be going good so far.

And the past few days I've been finding some time getting Runic designs done and playing around with some backstory to the world it'll be in. Here are a few images to wet your visual palette.

So as you can see it's starting to branch out and get a little dynamic. These are also only key figures in the story that I have planned thus far. There are still a TON of species and lands that Bowen and his friends will journey across and meet.

Runic is coming along smoothly and I'm in the process of cleaning up the character designs and will be getting a start on location designs which is the last thing I am looking at getting done before starting up on comic pages. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled as I'll be posting more work up in the coming days.

I got the opinion of Carsten Bradley about some of my model sheets and how I should go about with shading and colour choices. And after taking his opinion of cell-shading, came up with this for Bowen and Katelyn.

I must say now that I really like the look of the cell shading. I even played with colouring the line art of Katelyn's front 3/4 view. It takes alot of time so I'll probably only do this for posters, covers, or the like. Your thoughts?

I've been MIA for a while...I know. Been having a blast out in Calgary trying to visit all the people I know out here.

Anyways, I've been mad at work the past few days getting Runic flushed out more. Yeah, seems like this is never going to start, I know. I've actually got ALOT written out and it just keeps pouring out more and more. I've asked a select few people to look over what I did get done so far just to get their opinion and if it actually makes sense or is interesting. I'll post some designs as I get them done. Here's one of them (I still have to tweak the drawing a bit and also peg out on what I want to do for a colouring style).

I've been pretty bad with keeping up on my postings. Something I'm not too great about anyways. But here's a post with some photos...unfortunately no art this time around. I left Toronto last week and before I left I took a stroll downtown before my last day

And made my way to the theatre where the Evil Dead the Musical was playing. Thanks to Tammy and Joe for the fun time I had there.

We weren't allowed to have photos or video cameras on during the production but it was a phenomenal time. Some of us got sprayed with blood even without being in the splatter zone so that was awesome on it's own. If you happen to be in Toronto and love the Evil Dead movies, I DEFINITELY recommend on taking time to watching the musical.

One of my last days also had a sudden downpour that looked pretty cool and I wish that my camera was able to capture it...but didn't fully. It was still pretty neat just looking over the balcony.

Eventually I left for Calgary to visit alot of friends and a stop-off as I work my way to Vancouver. I haven't done too much yet. Just settling down and having a good time. Craig and Kim took me to a Farmer's Market and it was nice seeing the diversity of the ethnic food.

And earlier in the evening I got to hang out with a bunch of friends as we tried this board game which I forget the name but it involves Cthulu apparently.

I'll hopefully post more once I get to checking out the Calgary Stampede and other fun stuff. Till then have a good one.

Model Sheets...I've missed you

I finally got out of the habit of not doing model sheets since it's been some time since I did any. Here's a rough of the main character for Runic, Bowen.

I noticed a few things I need to change on these drawings and I do have a back 3/4 and back view too that's being worked on also. And I'll have another page for a few poses and probably one more on top of that for detailed items. I'll post them as I get them done. More Runic model sheets will follow once Bowen's done. And possibly some Holiday Lane model sheets too.

Holiday Lane and Photos

I've been hitting up some Holiday Lane designs lately. Getting some nice ideas flowin with a buddy of mine as we are getting this show pitch. We're actually a bit surprised how alot of the written side of things are just fitting together nicely...too nicely... But I whipped up a few designs which are still just that, designs. I still have some colour palettes to play with and such.

More will be updated as time moves on. I've been rather busy pulling late hours at work since this show is winding down and whatever time I still do have is spent getting my portfolio and stuff set for looking around for another animation gig.

I'm not popping around at any conventions this year aside from visiting. I want to wait until I have alot of content to bring the next time I attend one in an artist alley. So next year will probably be the time for something like that.

Hey hey! How are things going with people today? I'm finally taking the time to make a small post again. Lately I've been swamped with work animating on the Iggy Arbuckle show. But we're over the hill on that production so it's a bit expected at this point...well...very expected.

I've had some time here and there to get some artwork pumped out. And I haven't played much World of Warcraft in the last two and a half weeks too, which just feels odd...heh. But I'll kick things off with this comic page that I did as a page 1 for a story to be a Jam submission for Global Comic Jam but who knows when that contest will start up.

I tried doing this blizzard effect but it probably would have turned out ALOT better if I put more time into it. But this gives the idea which is all I really wanted to get by with the time I permitted myself for the page.

Also I'm currently working on a joint project with Carsten Bradley and Keith Jetter so be sure to be on the lookout sometime in May when we get this project underway. I DO have a image to post that is related to this project (at least for my end of this project).

I'll post more on this project as we get things rolling and the due date of May 1st draws closer. And here's a rough thumbnail of the main characters.

Subway Rides

I just picked up a small sized sketchbook in hopes of filling it up with alot of really nice reference stuff and doodles. On the boring ride home from work along the subway, I decided to draw some of the people I was sitting near. It's interesting to see the amount of people that are on the subway that don't have much expression on their faces aside from sleepyness...but today there was a little kid who was holding a musical instrument and he had the biggest smile I have seen since I've been here in Toronto. Here's today's page.

Nearing Website Completion ^_^

Well. I'm getting REALLY happy about getting near all the drawings completed for the website and soon being able to start on the actual comic itself. Thanks Richtoon for your comment. Yeah, a buddy of mine got me started earlier this year but I was pretty bad at keeping up with blogging. At least until recently when I've been turning up new artwork.

Here's a little something I completed tonight. Two more character drawings fully coloured and a third character just drawn out. I'm colouring him in tomorrow after I get up sometime.

Well...that's all for now. I'm tired and I'll have more posted for tomorrow.

Shadow Lily Characters...HHOOOOO!!!!

I have a massive upload for you today! First here are three drawings that I managed to work on tonight and nearly completed all the work for the Shadow Lily website. Tomorrow night (or Saturday morning really) is when the site shall be done with all the work and I can get started on the cover and pages for issue 1 !!!! YAY!

So I'll probably post after the weekend a small section of the cover. And before then I'll post another character or the rest of them once I complete them

And here's a doodle I did on the subway on my way home from work. It's an initial design of Old Man Winter or Jack Frost who will be in this comic idea that a friend and I are developing. We're just taking things at a nice pace and it's more for our amusement then anything else right now. This character will go along with the Easter Bunny from a few posts ago. Enjoy!

And also this weekend I'll be getting around to updating my website with all the new artwork.

Weekend full of work

Hey all! Man, I'm just writing this up before I crash for the night. I was REALLY hoping that tonight was Saturday instead of Sunday. The weekend just flew on by. But thankfully I got tons done for Shadow Lily. The website is pretty much done aside from some artwork which is nice to see. I'm still up on schedual. I also took some time after to start up on the cover for issue #1 of Shadow Lily.

Shadow Lily Update!

It's late, I'm not tired now...but I know I'm gonna feel it really bad tomorrow. Anyways, the Shadow Lily website is coming along nicely. I have some of the layouts finalized and working on the most part. Tomorrow is when I tackle the characters section. I still have a bunch of artwork for that part...but that's a job for this weekend :D. I have also had a chat with Carsten Bradley and he's agreed to do the colouring for the Shadow Lily covers (YAY!). Not only am I glad that he's one of my favourite colourists out there, but it's gonna save a buttload of work for me in the future. I still get the fun of colouring interior pages.

Well. It's been a while since I last blogged it up. I'm pretty bad for keeping up to date and coming back here to write. But anyways, I have a few images that I worked on lately sinc eI'm trying to push on Shadow Lily and get that projet moving along. Here are a few pics. Sudbury HOOO!!!!

I'm heading up to Sudbury for the weekend so there will be a lack of drawign happening. But I get to see some family this weekend since I missed out Thanksgiving weekend cause of the 24 Hour Comic Jam. I'm looking forward to everything but the snow that apparently already started up there.

Work was long today but on small breaks here and there I put together this. It's a little something I did straight in Flash. The first animated Lily! Unfortunately I don't know how I'll go about with cleaning up the animation since it's a bit difficult with controlling the line thickness of the brush tool. But I have some playing around in that regards. Something I'm planning for the website.

But anyways, I don't have much else to mention for now so enjoy!

So the 24 Hour Comic Convention is over and alot of rejoicing is to be had. The event was ALOT of fun and I really enjoyed it. The group there was great and a few of the jammers were:

So after work today I drew up a redesign for a character that will be one of the key people in Shadow Lily. His name is Tyrone.

It's been a while since I posted an image. But I'll be posting more once I get a scanner that works again. Anyways, that's all that I have for now.

24 Hour Comic Jam Success!

Hey all! The 24 Hour Comic Jam was this passing weekend and it was a blast. I have never felt such pain in my hand as I did that following morning. There were 8 artists in total that night and we all had lots of fun. I don't have my pages scanned up yet, but once I do I'll be posting them up here so no worries and be patient. I'm looking forward to working on it next year.

Busy week

No I havent' forgotten about this blog the past week. Alot of my stuff is in boxes since my buddies and I found a nice place that we're moving to today. YAY! And also work's been busy with wrapping up an episode of Iggy.

But for the moment, here's a little image I doodled up last weekend before packing up my computer.

And a reminder that the 24 Hour Comic Jam is happening this weekend. WOOT! My script is roughed out and I just have to flush things out still and work out designs. Hopefully I have time to do that tonight and Friday. But I'll just leave it to that for now and I may post later tonight.

11 days till the 24 Hour Comic Jam happens! I'm getting more and more pumped by the day. I finally got the story roughed out on what I'll be doing and just flushing that out along with the character designs. All I will hint at is that it will deal with my Runic Warrior story.

Runic Warrior is set in a different world somewhat mixed in technology (part medieval, part steampunk). It is a story about Breianna Aislan who is seeking revenge for the murder of her parents and best friend by the King's Soldiers. She witnesses this when she was on her way home from collecting wood for the stove but escapes to a near port town where she is picked up by the captain of a pirate ship. A few years roll by and she returns to the very town where she left her past to finish off what the King started. She is joined by a martial artist, who has found his way to the world of wine and women, and an elvan geomancer, treasure hunter by trade. Twists and turns take the trio across the world of the humans and the world of the elves as Brei makes her way to her destined goal.

Still some things are in the works but that's what I'll reveal for now. I'll also be posting up the pages I do during the 24 Comic Jam so be sure to keep track of that.

24 Hour Comic Jam!!!!

Woot! Two weekends till the official 24 Hour Comic Jam! I'm SOO pumped.

I think I already know what I'll be doing for this jam...I just need to figure out the story. But yeah, if you're in Toronto, stop by at the Hairy Turantula at their Keele location on October 7th and 8th (noon till noon) and hit up the party!

So this weekend I plan to prep up for the event and get some practice drawing done as I work out the script. I'll post some art once I get that stuff done.

And to keep yourselves entertained for a while, I recommend you go try out this game called flOw. As I was waiting for work for a bit, I played this for about 2 hours.

Relaxin' Evening

Well. Finally spent a day without having to look around for an apartment which was a nice change for one night. I got some drawing done and busted my butt to start working on the comic (finally...I know Kris :P). Here's a small rough in panel one for a sneak peak.

And spent some time playing World of Warcraft with Shannon. Here are our druid/rogue combo just hitting lvl 11 tonight.

We do have a level 60 character each...she has a mage, and myself, a druid. Here's us taking one of our friends through Zul' Farrak.

So we had lots of fun and got alot of questing done. Well...off to bed.

Hey all. I'm just writing this blog up before I head into work this morning. Figured it's been a while since I posted a blog (I actually forgot I had this blog :/). Anyways. To start it off, I've been living in Toronto now for the past 2 months working at C.O.R.E. as an animator for Iggy Arbuckle.

It's alot of fun so far. I'm having a great time. I've also been running around finding an apartment so I will have a place to unpack. Big thanks to Darren and Ryan for putting up with me and all my stuff this past long while. Anyways, I unpacked the tablet last night to doodle a bit and came up with a "poster girl" for Canadianime.

The design's still in the works. I have done alot of concept artwork these past 2 months in 2 sketchbooks. Why two sketchbooks? Cause I forgot one in my old city before I moved all my things here and so bought a second one to tie me over. I would have them scanned and such if it wasn't for the fact that my scanner just decided to pull a retirement plan on me and not want to turn on ever again. So I'll just redraw them digitally until I get a new scanner or go somewhere to scan them myself. But more art to come and I will post more on this blog. Promise.

Oh yeah! Also been working out the kinks for the Shadow Lily website. so far you can see the progress at the Shadow Lily Flash Site which is currently in it's planning/process stages. And on that note, you'll need the most recent Flash viewer in order to see the text on this site. Something I just realized.

So at the time being it's just really artwork that needs to be completed and I'll get moving on that once I get a place to settle down and unpack in.

Well...off to work I go!

Xenosaga 3?!

Wow. I used to keep myself heavily updated on the videogame releases but I've been slipping alot. I didn't even know Xenosaga 3 was anywhere near release till I saw it at Toys 'R Us yesterday. One thing I ahve to get around to doing is finishing off Xenosaga 2 still. I managed to get myself "stuck" on a boss where it feels impossible. I think I may be stuck restarting since I can't really do anything to help change my situation. But I love the story to this series despite the imbalance of gameplay and story moments. Aparently this is the last of the story that deals with Shion, Kosmos and crew so I'm curious now how they will be tieing this together once the story hits where Xenogears is to begin. Anyways, here's a pic of Kosmos or something like her.

Well, I'm watching the last few chapters of Broken Saints on the DVD box set I picked up at Future Shop. I didn't expect it to be so long. It was odd at first but it became good once the multiple plots started intertwining. The story is interesting and I don't want to reveal anything for those who haven't watched it yet. So be sure to get a chance to see it.
